SL Governor continues ‘LLRC agenda’ of Sinhalicisation in Northern Province

[TamilNet, Sunday, 10 May 2015, 22:12 GMT]
The incumbent Sri Lankan Governor of Northern Province, HMGS Palihakkara, who was one of the eight panellists appointed by former SL President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the so-called Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), has instructed the SL Government Agents in the Northern Province to channel more resources to the Sinhala settlements initiated during the Rajapaksa regime in the North, civil sources in Jaffna said. In the meantime, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) provincial councillor K.T. Linganathan, who is from Nedungkea'ni, Vavuniyaa, on Sunday said elected Tamil representatives were being refused access to an accelerated Sinhala colonisation scheme at Kokkachchaan-ku'lam, which has been Sinhalicised into Kalabogaswewa with 5,000 Sinhala settlers. The occupation, initiated during the previous regime, is now being expanded with new housing schemes.

The SL Government Agent of Vavuniyaa, who is a former military officer, is spearheading the demographic genocide against the Tamil people, the Tamil councillor blamed at a public meeting in Vavuniyaa on Sunday.

TNA councillor K.T. Linganathan was speaking at a welcoming function held for M Pitchaimuththu Nadaraj, a provincial councillor selected for the rotating seat of the TNA at the Northern Provincial Council.

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), which has 13 parliamentarians in the Sri Lankan Parliament and 31 provincial councillors in the North-East is a collaborating ‘partner’ of the new SL regime in the South. But, it is not able to transfer a single Government Agent, who is carrying out a sophisticated structural genocide through settling Sinhalese in the ancient Tamil villages of the district, Mr Linganathan accused the hierarchy of the TNA.

ITAK leader Mavai Senathiraja and TNA parliamentarians from Vanni were present at the meeting.

Only the SL Government Agent, SL military and Sinhala politicians were allowed to visit the Sinhala colonisation scheme at Kokkachchaan-ku'lam, Mr Lingathan said.

Thousands of acres of lands have been seized from Eezham Tamils to create the Sinhala colony for 5,000 settlers, he further said.

In the meantime, another TNA activist, present at the meeting said that the SL military has recently started to expand the Sinhala settlement situated at the entrance to Jaffna peninsula at Naavat-kuzhi with the backing of the ‘LLRC Governor’.
